Helping Hours

Approved activities for helping hours for Steps 6 and 9:

Each participant must provide a written list ahead of time of the proposed activities they plan to do in order to meet the obligations for Steps 6 and 9.

1. Gathering shopping carts at a grocery store or Wal-Mart.

2. Cleaning up trash on the grounds at a cemetery and/or straighten up flowers.

3. Providing transportation to other participants to 12-Step meetings and/or treatment. (No more than 2 hours)

4. Providing clean up services at Mosaic or Your Haven as long as Lydia or Brandon approve.

5. Collect dog food and for every 10 lbs. collected, donate to the Dog Pound with documentation. This equals 1 hour of helping hours. (No more than 2 hours)

6. Providing transportation to co-workers to and/or from work. (No more than 1 hour)

7. Any type of yardwork, household work, running errands for a person who is in need. This person cannot be a friend, family member, or your grandmother’s best friend! This should be a person that is more of an acquaintance, someone you would not ordinarily “clean their gutters or cut their grass just out of the goodness of your heart”.

8. You may work at the Animal Shelter and this can count as “Helping Hours”.

****Helping a fellow participant with homework and cleaning up after a 12- Step meeting is NOT considered helping hours. Those are tasks that promote unity and it is something you need to be doing anyway.
